Black Mormons Respond to LDS Priesthood and Temple Ban | Ep. 1916
Today we are joined by Dr. Darron Smith, Summur-Rayn Barrett, and Nate Byrd of Black Menaces to react to the first three episodes with Matt Harris. Their commentary unpacks Joseph Smith's complex racial attitudes, Brigham Young's implementation of the priesthood ban, and the painful legacy of racist doctrines. Their candid discussion highlights the urgent need for accountability within the Mormon church and grapples with the lasting impact of this racial discrimination.

Mormon Professor Confronts Church on Racism - The Lowry Nelson Story w/ Matt Harris | Ep. 1913

In 1947, Lowry Nelson, a respected Mormon academic, challenged the LDS Church's racist policies in a series of letters to top leadership. Occurring on the cusp of the Civil Rights Movement, the First Presidency reacted by doubling down on encoding white supremacy into Mormon doctrine. Nelson wasn't ready to give up though and continued to flirt with excommunication by publishing his corresponde...

    Caitlin was definitely raised Mormon as there are several photos w/ her in them from Church of LDS accounts. Parents are still practicing Mormons, as was evident in the recent interview her mom did w/ a news platform of some sort. Whether Caitlin remains a practicing Mormon currently seems to be an unanswered question. What seems pretty clear is that at the time the alleged grooming behavior was first occurring, Caitlin was a self-identified & practicing Mormon. Obviously lots of information we don’t know about the role Mormonism plays in Caitlin’s life today given her dress/IG photos, but does sound like the religion factor has played some role in getting to where they are today. If her parents & family were the ones Kyle was allocating game tickets to vs his own family, the Mormon influence appears to be there, at least on some level.

    Fraud, I am holding the biggest modern day scandal of Mormon cover up that includes a vicious police drug gang and a low level deputy was just fired for what I have proven. Wana see a stake president held accountable for not only serious child abuse or Elder Runland taken into custody? Do you have any idea of who Mary is in President Nelson's office? I used to enjoy your work and now I don't believe a damned thing that you say. I realize how challenged members of phyc faculties are as a computer science professor and former dean, but give ke and everyone else a break. What the church has you as a front to take fire? Herion, fentonal and pot being sold to our children and you will not so much as one of your minions even call me and vett me??? Fraud and a pox on your house.

    About seven months after the betrothal sealing ceremony between Elissa Wall and her victim there was a letter written by her. The letter was not used in the trial against the assistant to the Prophet at the time, the man who performed the ceremony. (By the way, he was convicted of Rape for performing that ceremony if you didn't know already.) It was not used because the letter could not be found. But there was a letter used in evidence, written by her victim. It was a greeting card with many flowers etc. on the front, and this is what it said inside: Written on the front: To: My Love, and Strength, Elissa J Steed From: Your love and weak companion, Allen G Steed November 17, 2001 Dear Elissa, I take this time now to write to you. I am not a professional writer, but if the Lord will come to my aid I would like to express some of my feelings at this time. I got home at about 11:15 last night. I thought to myself, I will grab a bite to eat, then run up and see my sweetheart, give her a huge hug, tell her I love her, and go to bed. Well I got a bit to eat and one of my old weaknesses came along, and I sat down to rest my weary legs. Just then our kind Father in heaven said to me “My son Allen, get up and go to bed” But in my weakness and slow responsedness I stayed there, thinking “I’ll get up in a minute when I get done with my food” Now Father in heaven must rebuke me for being so slow to respond to inspiration, and He has 3 different ways. #1 He allowed me to sleep until 4:00 this morning #2 He inspired you to write that letter last night to open my eyes to my slowness. #3 He chastened me this morning through his Holy Spirit. “Lesi please forgive me” Now I wonder, what might have she said in that letter? And why was he was asking for forgiveness from her.... hmm..... Any guess? (hint: He got home from working late, fell asleep on the chair, and got up in the morning and went to work without giving her any attention)

    I get what she’s saying about the “modest” men who want to marry a virgin but are ok using a girl who they would view as “fun s(E)x” but never marry. That’s totally hypocritical but if she’s saying that a culture of purity, modesty, and chastity b4 marriage is harmful to women, she needs to listen to what women who have become Christians are saying about chastity who have left Only Fans , who were earning millions, because they gave their lives to Jesus.

    Context: Caitlin‘s parents and Kyle’s parents were very good friends years back & I don’t know how that all started, but they used to get their families together regularly. I think more on vacations as Caitlin was living with her family in Alabama. The 2 families were so close that all the kids referred to one another as cousins. According to the brother Daniel, she first set her sights on Kyle about 2014, as far as what Daniel says was the beginning of the grooming process. Caitlin was a senior in high school & Kyle was 11. The grooming seemed very innocent & not romantic for a few yrs, but when looking back to the timeline of their relationship, the pattern was clear & intensified, per the brother, Daniel. At the time the very early grooming behaviors allegedly began, Caitlin was very active in the Mormon Church as there are numerous church Instagram posts with her in them.

  • @liseklerekoper2441
    @liseklerekoper2441 8 годин тому

    Correction: She’s b/w 7-8 yrs older than Kyle. In that prom photo, he was 18 & she was 25, almost 26. Other scoop that I don’t know if you or your guest is aware of yet … there’s a pic of Kyle with his 2 brothers, Caitlin, & I believe her brother from several yrs ago. Kyle was 13 & Caitlin was 20 in that photo, & it had a caption about spending fun times w/ cousins. A lot of people saw that & thought it meant the two of them were cousins, which set off a bigger scandal on Twitter. I found out from several stories written that his parents & her parents were super close for years, to the point that all the kids were like cousins to one another & referred to themselves as such. Apparently, Caitlin was the oldest of the “cousins,“ & it’s possible that she was left responsible for the other “cousins“ when the two sets of parents went out. I think that’s where the babysitting comment came from. Obviously, Kyle’s parents don’t have a positive relationship w/ Caitlin‘s parents or family anymore. Caitlin’s mom was interviewed by some outlet & she was asked directly about the grooming comments r/t her dtr. Her response was weird, a bit disturbing, & very typical Mormon.

    Have you considered that Father knew it would take a miraculous appearance like that to convince a very young church of divine leadership? I believe it was planned because of the lack of faith among members. Like you said, they were fracturing. A simple declaration by leaders wouldn't have been enough to pull everyone together. They needed a dramatic witness. They needed to firmly believe that Father was guiding them through His chosen prophet. They needed a strong conviction to make it through the hardships of being hunted and driven out of the country. Father did know. It was planned. I have learned through many personal experiences that Father never tells us the whole plan, and He often waits until the last minute to test our faith. I happen to greatly admire Brigham. He never wanted to be the prophet. He was a simple man who loved to work with his hands. He was rough and unrefined, a real common man. From what I've heard Joseph mentioned Brigham becoming the next prophet and Brigham told him he wasn't prophet material. So perhaps the vision was also for Brigham's sake as well. To confirm to him that he was indeed Father's choice. Father often has multiple reasons for what He does. I don't understand how people can survive this life without spiritual experiences! I have never felt that I was alone without the ability to gain answers and understanding directly from Father. It must be frustrating to have to rely on other people's testimonies.

    I am a never Mormon, and I don’t understand why you think realizing that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were frauds necessarily equates with going out and trying drugs and pornography and drinking? It’s important not to do these things because they aren’t healthy for you psychologically or physically and I think it’s dangerous for Mormons who are leaving their church to think that saying goodbye to the Mormon church means that they just should try everything willy-nilly There will be no consequences. For example if an ex mormon. Goes to a prostitute of “just once to try it out“ and then their spouse finds out and it significantly damages their marriage or they decide to get drunk for the first time in their life and then they crack up their car and injure people. There are good reasons for not giving into every impulse and there are some things that are objectively wrong. Giving up Mormonism doesn’t mean all ethical values are self determined

    Many people are traumatized by the church. Alot of time is wasted fretting over nothing. Smith was a warlock and manipulator cultist. Satan inspired him in everything he did or said. The whole thing is nonsense. The book of Mormon and all so-called scriptures from him are nonsense. The church is the secret combination that destroys our nation and the earth. We have very little time left. Lava earthquakes solar flare will end this lie that the church is a huge part of.A cleansing is immanent.
